• Resumen

  El estudio de la mitología y los rituales más representativos de un grupo aborigen de Tierra del Fuego, los selk 'nam, es una forma de aprehender el conjunto de símbolos y representaciones que configuraron su universo simbólico. Con la intención de superar la visión tan corníin de la "Antropología de la Ilustración" yendo asimismo más allá de la perspectiva que aporta la antropología levistraussiana, el enfoque que aquí se pretende desplegar consiste en ver la mitología como creadora de un espacio de integración y de formación de identidades colectivas. La aprehensión del ámbito natural y social que los rodeaba, permitió a los selk'nam establecer un rígido sistema de pautas, que habría ayudado por largos siglos a mantener la cohesión de este grupo social, sometido a las extraordinarias presiones de su habitat.

• Abstract

With the intention to also surpass the visión so common of the «Anthropology of the íllustration» going beyond the perspective that contributes the levistraussian anthropology. the approach that here is tried to unfold consists in seeing mythology Jike creator of a space of integration and formation of collective identities. The apprehension of the natura! and social scope that surrounded them. allowed selk'nam to establish a rigid system of guidelines, that would have helped by long centuries to maintain the cohesion of this social group, put under to the extraordinary pressures of its habitat.
